JACK ALEJANDRO BARRIOS
About Me
I began my experience in Design by studying Industrial Design at the Instituto de Diseño de Caracas and while making Furniture, Clocks and Lamps I developed an Interest in Interior Design which later I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. There I designed and made a chair which was chosen to show as an example of the college’s program at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. Years later, it was selected to be exhibited at the Mega Exposition at the Sofia Imber Museum of Contemporary Art.
In New York I had the privilege to work with one of my teachers at his company ASA, there I had the experience to work on many projects for Citibank, for their offices and bank branches. Later I worked at GHK where I worked on projects for offices for Gillette, bank branches for HSBC, and the opportunity to work for a year and a half on site at the Secretariat Building of the United Nations.
After a decade in New York I returned to Venezuela and worked at Morasso,Seijas & Asociados where I worked on projects for Farmatodo, Multinacional de Seguros, Interbank Seguros and a building for Seguros Guayana for which we received an Interior Design Award.
Sobre Mi
Mi experiencia en Diseño comenzó estudiando Diseño Industrial en el Instituto de Diseño de Caracas y mientras creaba Muebles, Relojes y Lámparas se despertó en mi un interés por el Diseño Interior el cual luego estudié en el Fashion Institute of Technology en Nueva York. Ahí diseñe y fabriqué una silla que fué seleccionada como una muestra del programa de la universidad en la Feria Internacional del Mueble Contemporáneo. Años después sería seleccionada para ser exhibida en la Mega Exposición en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Sofia Imber.
En Nueva York tuve el privilegio de trabajar para uno de mis profesores en su compañía ASA, ahí tuve la experiencia de trabajar en numerosos proyectos de oficinas y sucursales para Citibank. Luego trabajé en GHK donde trabajé en proyectos de oficinas para Gillette, sucursales bancarias para HSBC y la oportunidad de trabajar por un año y medio dentro del edificio del Secretariado en las Naciones Unidas.
Después de una década en Nueva York, regresé a Venezuela y trabajé en Morasso, Seijas y Asociados donde trabajé en proyectos para Farmatodo, Multinacional de Seguros, Interbank Seguros y el edificio de la sede principal de Seguros Guayana por el cual recibimos un premio por el Diseño Interior.
